One of the things we strive to achieve is providing the industry with high quality cable couplers and accessories in order to assist your site in meeting its operational goals. In the case of the 35BU, our 35kV coupler, we were approached by a client from West Africa with a specific need to be met.

Requiring a coupler capable of handling up to 35,000 volts, when they were unable to find a product on the market designed and rated for that level of voltage, this client approached us. Our Research and Development team set to work, eager and excited for this opportunity to once again push the boundaries of current understanding and electrical conductivity. After just 15 weeks in development, the 35BU was released in 2013.

Exclusive to AusProof and our international sister companies, the 35BU is suitable for use in non-hazardous environments. A testament to the durability and reliability of the 35BU’s design, an international client had found that a set of their 35BU couplers had become submerged underwater for more than 12 hours before being discovered. These couplers continued to run correctly and experienced no issues.

Popularly used in Africa, Asia, Europe, and South America, some installations of the 35BU across South America include high altitude sites, with no issues reported. Common applications of this coupler include the supplying power from overhead lines to mobile transformer units, as well as supplying power to dredges.

As part of AusProof’s dedication to providing the industry with high quality cable coupler solutions, regular internal and third-party testing is carried out on our products to ensure they continue to meet or even surpass Australian standards. The 35BU is no exception, with this product currently undergoing third-party testing due to be completed by the end of the year, the results of which will be made available to view and download from our website.
