Introducing the newest members of the AusProof family – mother and daughter koala duo Prada and Tallow!

Adopted from the Australia Koala Foundation, Prada and Tallow are located in Paradise Country on the Gold Coast, QLD.

Prada is a sassy 7 year old koala, with a no nonsense or silly business attitude from anyone. Tallow, Prada’s second Joey, is a cuddly and happy two year old who has also been voted Australia’s cutest Joey. However, the adorable koala duo are both beautiful inside and out.

AusProof has been looking into how we could assist with bushfire recovery. Rather than donating once to an organisation, we looked into how we could help Australia’s native wildlife.

Prior to Corona virus devastating the world, many Australians battled an horrific and heartbreaking bushfire season throughout the summer. This battle included many vulnerable animals.

Koala’s continue to disappear from the environment, with a loss of habitat and food (eucalyptus leaves) being their biggest threat. However, experts are now warning the iconic koala figure of Australia could soon disappear from the wild. With numbers across Australia already reducing from logging, growing infrastructure and drought, the grim situation has been made worse by the 2019-2020 bushfire season.

With the 2019-2020 Australian Bushfire Summer season having significant devastation to the land down under, it resulted in thousands of livelihoods and buildings destroyed. Additionally, it’s estimated over 1 billion animals were killed either directly or indirectly from the bushfires. This included a number of iconic Australian animals, such as koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, gliders and cockatoos.

Formed in 1986, The Australian Koala Foundation (AKF) is a non-profit, non-government organisation that is committed to the protection and effective management of the wild koala and its habitat. Originally a small group interested in researching koala disease, the AKF has grown into a global organisation with strategic koala research, protection and community education with a focus on koala mapping.

*Unfortunately as much as we’d love to hang out with a pet koala in the office, we don’t get to psychically keep them. Our monthly donation also helps with saving koalas in the wild to assist with recovery and extinction.
